Fear
Fear is a propaganda technique that scares the audience by showing them possible disastrous consequences that might happen if the people do not do something. The fear that is aroused among the people from such advertisements persuades them to follow what it says to avoid such consequences. This advertisement, created by the US government to persuade people to buy war bonds, shows an image of the burning American flag, which symbolizes the fall of freedom and loss of liberty. It also depicts many people screaming and yelling in agony, being tortured by the hot flames that surround them. Because this lifelike scenario depicted in the advertisement is truly horrific, it arouses a sense of fear that this is what will happen when America is under communism. This encourages people to buy war bonds because they wouldn’t want to experience such horror.
